She is in Acrobatic Arts certified instructor, exceptional dance coach, and self-proclaimed cartwheel whisperer – she can teach anyone to do a cartwheel in 15 minutes! Kids love her wild and loud energy, creativity, and unabashed love of goofiness. Parents love her precision to detail, safety-oriented teaching, and all around kid-magnetism. Hi! My name is Samantha, but most people call me Sammie! I was born and raised in Portland, OR. I did recreational gymnastics as a kid, then in middle school I switched over to playing lacrosse. During high school, I was on the varsity lacrosse team for three years, and for the fourth year I co-coached a youth team because I had to stop playing after an injury. I love working with kids, so I started coaching gymnastics at the same gym I used to take classes at, Oregon Gymnastics Academy, when I was 17. I coached for two years, quickly progressed into teaching all levels from preschool to advanced, and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue my Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (I started college when I was only 16!). My biggest goals while coaching and building trust with kiddos are to create outlets for them to build their self-confidence, and for them to find passion in what they’re putting energy into. I can’t wait to continue doing what I love, and to spread that energy everywhere I go!

Hi! My name is Taylor! I started dancing when I was just 2 years old at my local dance studio in Minnesota. After 15 years of dancing at my studio I decided to move away from home and study dance at Arizona State University. I received a BFA in Dance Performance in May of 2019 and I was ready for my next adventure. I finally made the move to LA and now I am pursuing my professional dance career out here in California.

Hi! My name is Cecilia. I was a successful gymnast for 9 years, reaching level 10. Since ending my own gymnastics career, 7 years ago, I have been coaching recreational and team classes. I graduated from CSUN with a B.A in Deaf Studies. My ultimate goal is to work in the Deaf community.

Hi! My name is Amanda! Ever since I was a little girl dance and gymnastics has always been an important part of my life. After being in my first professional theater show at the age of 12, my love for the arts grew even BIGGER! I decided to start taking dance classes, and private tumbling lessons at the age of 14. Post high school graduation I went on to dance for the 20x National Champion Louisville Ladybirds. However, I had always dreamt of moving to Los Angeles to further pursue a career in the arts. So, I packed up a u-haul, hooked my subie to the back of it, and drove 3,355 miles from my hometown in Maine to my very first apartment in LA! Aside from teaching I am also working towards my California real estate license. I am so excited to be a part of GroovinKids, and I can’t wait to meet all of the hard-working athletes!

Following her graduation in May 2019, she received her BFA in Dance. Sarah plans to continue her studies in fitness and nutrition and will pursue her professional dance career in Los Angeles, CA. If you’ve ever wondered who the biggest Disneyland fan is, it’s this girl! Her favorite movie is Peter Pan and her favorite ride at the park is The Jungle Cruise. When Coach Carissa isn’t coaching, she is probably watching some Disney movies or hanging out with her dog, Roo. She has been coaching gymnastics/tumbling and competitive cheerleading since 2015. Coach Carissa also has a background as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Hi! I’m Kassidy. I started gymnastics when I was 3 years old at my local gym, Novato Gymnastics. I progressed through the levels so that by the time I was 15 years old I was a Level 8 gymnast, competing all over the West coast! Although I had to stop gymnastics due to a back injury, I was able to dive for all of high school and was a varsity cheerleader for two years. I have always loved the feeling of flipping through the air, and I hope to share that joy with the kids that I teach! I have been coaching gymnastics for 6 years, with the majority of my time spent teaching at Novato Gymnastics. I also worked briefly at Bruin Gymnastics Academy at UCLA, however I had to discontinue working there due to COVID. When I am not teaching, I am a full time student at UCLA studying to go to medical school. I took a lot of ceramics classes in high school, and sculpting is still my favorite hobby!
